5. Re ez link card or Singapore tourist pass-better which 11 years ago No, the standard Ezlink is a flat rate cost. There is a child concession EZlink card for children under tall and under 7years of age but so far as I can see the parent buying has to produce an NRIC residents card when buying according to transitlink, as well as producing the childs passport - so I'm not sure tourists can get them. As to the two cards EZlink versus Singapore Tourist Pass. THe tourist pass is valid as an unlimited travel card for at most 3 days. After the purchased time has expired it can be used as an EZlink card, but the pass has no credit on it initially. The pass costs 10SGD for one day, 16 for 2, or 20 for 3 days - plus there is a 10SGD rental deposit. That deposit is not returnable if you purchased the card from outside fo the country and had it mailed to you, but otherwise it is refundable if you return the card within 5 days of expiry. Thats actually a lot of travel cost per day to use if you are a tourist and there are no child concession passes. The Ezlink is valid for 5 years. It provides cheaper travel than buying single standard tickets by up to a 1/3 of the fare cost, cheaper enough that by the time you have used the initial credit you have recovered a fair amount of the cost. I think by the time you have then used another 10 SGD you will have saved the price of the card. The card is also accepted in a number of other places for paying for access to Sentosa is one tourist related option. If you do decide to return the EZlink card then you get the remaining travel credit back, but not the 5SGD initial cost - you simply have to use the card to recover the cost. Standard tickets can be got for any trip, one ticket per person and the tickets costs fare plus a 1SGD deposit. The deposit can be recovered by returning the ticket.

Singapore has one of the best public transport systems in the world. The entire city was designed with this system in mind, so getting around is fast and easy. Paying by cash is an option, but it’s quite a lot of hassle and costs significantly more. So in order to use public transport in Singapore, you really need either a Singapore Tourist Pass or an EZ Link card. We will tell you exactly where you can buy a Singapore Tourist Pass, what it will cost you and whether it’s worth it over the EZ Link Card. A Singapore Tourist Pass is a card designed to allow tourists to easily use Singapore’s efficient public transport system. The cards come in one, two or three-day versions, which give you unlimited use of the standard buses, MRT Trains and LRT Trains in Singapore for the number of days specified. This card is very quick and easy, allowing you to not have to worry about topping up or having insufficient funds. Once you have bought it, you are good to go and explore all the best things to do in Singapore. Just remember, as soon as you step on a bus or enter an MRT platform, tap the card on the panel. Then, as you get off the bus or depart from an MRT platform, tap another panel to leave. Singapore Tourist Pass Price The Singapore Tourist Pass price is S$12 for one day, S$19 for two days and S$24 for three days. You will be required to pay a deposit of S$10 in addition to the prices above when you purchase the Singapore Tourist Pass. This deposit will be refunded to you in full, as long as you return the card within five days of purchasing it. If you choose to keep the card, you will not be refunded the S$10. The card will transition to a standard EZ Link card. Follow us on Instagram! Where to Buy Singapore Tourist Pass For most people, the easiest place to purchase and return the Singapore Tourist Pass is Changi International Airport. You can do this at the TransitLink Ticket Office in Terminal two between the hours of 8am and 9pm. Alternatively, there will be automated kiosks available 24/7 in both Terminal two and three. If you have already left the airport, you can buy the Singapore Tourist Pass at a TransitLink Ticketing Office located at one of the below MRT Stations. If you’re staying centrally at one of our favourite hotels, Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Yotel or Hipstercity Hostel, then you’ll probably want to visit the Orchard, Raffles or Bayfront MRT stations. For trips under three days, this is the most cost-effective and easiest way to use Singapore’s public transport system. If you plan to visit Singapore for longer than three days and intend to use public transport to get around, then you should choose the EZ Link card. It is also very cheap, plus you do not need to worry about returning the card before leaving. If you only plan to use public transport only a few times during your stay, then don’t purchase either the Singapore Tourist Pass or the EZ Link card. It will be cheaper to just pay by cash. Singapore Tourist Pass Refund You will be eligible for a refund of your S$10 rental deposit when you return the Singapore Tourist Pass to a TransitLink Ticket Office or SMRT Passenger Service Centre within five days of purchase. Note, the value of the Singapore Tourist Pass is non-refundable. If you do not use it, or you are unhappy with it for any reason, you will not be able to receive a refund beyond the S$10 rental deposit. You also must ensure you return the card within five days of purchase or you will not receive your S$10 refund. Other Conditions of the Singapore Tourist Pass One day usage of the Singapore Tourist Pass covers a 24 hour period from midnight on the day of use until the same day. This means if you arrive and use your card at 10 pm, you will only get a couple of hours usage until the day ticks over. Try to start its use in the morning for maximum value. The second and third day must be consecutive. Even if you do not use your card on the second or third day, it still counts as a day. Some transport services are excluded Night Rider, Sentosa Express, RWS8, Fast Forward and Nite Owl Buses. Singapore Tourist Pass Plus The Singapore Tourist Pass Plus is an extended version of the standard Singapore Tourist Pass sold exclusively by Changi Recommends. It offers some additional perks for tourists, beyond unlimited use of MRT and bus service. Currently, the Singapore tourist Pass Plus costs $38 for a three-day pass. We feel that for the majority of people this pass won’t offer any benefit above what you already get from the cheaper, standard Singapore Tourist Pass. What you do get is a complimentary Xplore half-day tour and a complimentary $10 Hooters Dining Voucher. In addition to this, you will receive 5% off merchandise at Resort World Sentosa. We would recommend that you stick to the standard Singapore Tourist Pass unless you have intentions of using the Xplore half-day tour and dining at Hooters. For us, the perks really aren’t relevant, and as a result, we’ve never chosen to purchase this card. If you’re unsure, it’s safe for you to save your cash and skip the Singapore Tourist Pass Plus. Where to Stay in Singapore With an STP For most tourists, we’d recommend staying as close to the city center as possible as it makes getting to all the major attractions as easy as possible. You’ll have plenty of spots to pick up an STP as well as a bunch of stations to choose from when catching the MRT. We’d recommend staying anywhere between Marina Bay, Chinatown, Clarke Quay and Orchard. These suburbs are all next to eachother in central Singapore making access to anywhere on the island easy. To experience Singapore a bit more like a local would, we’d recommend also checking out suburbs like Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio or Bishan, however, accommodation here would be scarce. We stayed with family in these suburbs and it was awesome. All of these suburbs have bus stops and MRT stations so even if you’re not in the city center you can still get around. Hotel Recommendations Marina Bay Marina Bay Sands Hotel the best of the best Orchard Yotel modern and affordable by Singapore standards Clarke Quay Hipstercity Hostel best hostel in Singapore, centrally located but still not cheap

EZ Link Card versus Singapore Tourist Pass EZ Link Card Photo Credit Singapore Tourist Pass Website Photo Credit Singapore Tourist Pass Website Singapore has one of the world's most efficient public transport system. It is fast and economical. You can hop on and off their trains and buses with just one card. But which one is best to use? As a frugal traveler, I searched online and read on forums about which I should use when we get to Singapore - the regular EZ Link card or the Singapore Tourist Pass. Most people said it's best to get an EZ link card. EZ Link Card You can purchase this card at any 7-11 stores or an MRT station. It costs $12 SGD with a non-refundable $5 card cost, and $7 travel value. The EZ link card can be used at any MRT, LRT, bus, or even taxi. It can also be used as entrance to Sentosa Express - the monorail from Vivo City to Sentosa Island. Please note though that this card needs to have at least a $3 value. You will be prompt to top-up load your card by the reader if it has low value left in it. You can top-up your card at any MRT station, or a Cheers convenience store. Good thing, you can ask for a refund of your unused travel value at Changi Airport MRT station before you leave Singapore. So top it up! Singapore Tourist Pass Singapore Tourist Pass is like an EZ link card. The difference however, is that you pay for your desired travel duration and be able to enjoy unlimited rides on Singapore's public transport. You can opt to buy a 1-day, 2-day, or a 3-day pass. You can travel using the public bus, MRT or LRT. This however does not apply for other buses or trains like the Express, Fast Forward, and the Night Owl. Prices* 1 Day Pass - $20 2 Day Pass - $26 3 Day Pass - $30 *Each pass has a $10 refundable deposit which you can get when you return the card within 5 days Both cards are good. But it all boils down to which one will give you the best value. For me, I had to make our itinerary first, listing down each travel and mode of transportation we had to take. I used to help me choose the best route and the approximate value of each travel. After adding up all the transport expenses, I compared the cost of getting a 3-day Singapore tourist pass with getting a regular EZ link card with top-up. Weighing each, I have decided to take the EZ link card instead. The EZ link card won because it answered all our transportation costs, including the Sentosa Express. Although the $5 card cost is non-refundable, we were able to refund the remaining travel value of our card. The Singapore Tourist Pass would be great to use if your transport expenses will exceed the value of the passes you purchased. I doubt though that you will be able to spend $20 for bus and trains in 3 days - unless you'd be exploring the city A LOT. More information

Singapore Tourist Pass vs EZ-link Card Get Unlimited Rides on Singapore's Public TransportGetting around our tiny island is made easier by the simple use of transportation cards. But which card best suits your needs? We dive into the world of smart contactless cards for Singapore's Public Transport Singapore public transport system is one of the best in the world. Trains, buses, and light rail now connect locales from North to South, East to West. The latest extension to the renowned MRT system, the Thomson-East Coast Line, opens up new neighbourhoods and attractions for locals and visitors alike. Rest assured, you can travel across the beautiful city with absolute ease. What makes it easier is accessing a bus, MRT or LRT with the use of a handy card. The two main heavy-hitters in this category are the Singapore Tourist Pass STP and the EZ-link here you are fresh of the aviation-boat at Changi Airport. Which card do you get to start your Singaporean journey? Don’t fret, let’s break it down for you. What are these cards? Pros and Cons of Ez-link Pros and Cons of STP Which we would recommend Where can I purchase them? What are these two cards?Singapore Tourist Pass Essentially these two cards are travel cards owned by EZ-link Pte Ltd. The Singapore Tourist Pass STP is a contactless pass that offers tourists and travellers unlimited travel on public transport all day long. With it, one will be able to hop on any of Singapore’s main transport services including basic bus services, express bus services, the Mass Rapid Transit MRT and the Light Rail Transit LRT. However, you won’t be able to use the STP on bus services such as the Fast Forward, Chinatown Direct, NightRider, Express Service, Night Owl etc. The Sentosa Express isn’t covered by the Singapore Tourist Pass too. EZ-link Card Every Singaporean’s staple wallet-mate; the EZ-link card is a smart contactless transportation card. Similar to the STP, with this card, you will be able to ride the buses, MRT and LRT and all related bus services that you can’t with the STP. Unlike its one-trick pony predecessor, this smart card can also be used to pay taxi fares and even selected shopping and dining options. Nowadays, you can even pair it with your debit card and credit card apps, so you can even tap and get on public transport with just your out Co-living in Singapore; fully furnished, flexible lease and hassle free options!Pros and Cons of Ez-linkImage creditPros Lets start off with the good. When you get an EZ-Link card, you wont just be able to use it for transportation. As I mentioned earlier, this card can be used to pay a lot of other services. In place of a cash card, the EZ-link card can be used on In-Vehicle Units to pay ERP tolls along the road. Certain vending machines in Singapore have included accepting EZ-Link card payments too. Fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s have also accepted EZ-link payments. The card comes in many different designs and colours, sometimes serving as a collectors item because of this novelty. Cons The EZ-link card is a prepaid card. This means that you have to add value to the card whenever credit runs low. However, it’s pretty easy to do. Just look out for the general ticketing machines at any MRT station and any bus interchange to add value to your card. Another less than desirable feature of this is that the cards cost $5 and this is not refundable.
